![]() Our Single-Engine Seaplane course includes a segment to individualize the training to the student’s needs. The curriculum is fine-tuned and teaches pilots to be safe and capable to fly in the conditions they will experience in the Alaska Bush. We have been giving floatplane instruction at Space 801 since 1991. Float instruction season begins in May each year when the ice goes out at the Lake Hood Seaplane Base. We teach pilots to notice the conditions and factors that lead to the dreaded “Moose Stall” and how to avoid these situations. We teach pilots how to identify usable landing areas and make “go, no-go” decisions. ![]() ![]() ACME Cub Training offers float training, back-country/off-airport training, and ski training. This new location provides a great maintenance facility, classroom space, and pilot lounge. Our office is now located in a new hangar at Lake Hood. We offer Aerobatic, Spin and Upset Training in our American Champion Super Decathlon. We have tailwheel training in our Piper J3 Cub. We offer Multiengine Land in our Piper Twin Aztec. If you want other flying adventures while visiting our facility or just need to get current, we offer several other hard-to-find treats. We fly off the Coosa River, Lay Lake, Lake Mitchell, Logan Martin Lake, and Lake Martin. We often see eagles, herons, geese, ducks, and other residents of our waterways. Our location, KEET, just south of Birmingham, provides great service and easy access to area lakes, which offer a mix of river and lake environments, with varied and stunning views of the Alabama wilderness. Our instructors and even our examiners strive to make this a great lifetime memory. Adding a seaplane rating or just getting current should be a fun, relaxing, and safe treat for any pilot, and our goal is to help you achieve just that.
